Psalm 91 - Live

Psalm 91 is a powerful passage of Scripture. God makes us some amazing promises here.

Which way are you running?

And all the men of Israel, when they saw [Goliath], fled from him and were dreadfully afraid. -- 1 Sam 17:24

So it was, when [Goliath] arose and came and drew near to meet David, that David hurried and ran toward the army to meet [Goliath]. -- 1 Sam 17:48

So which way are you running in regard to your giant? Like the soldiers, away? Or like the young shepherd, toward?

The defining characteristic of a giant-killer is not whether you're a trained soldier, because David wasn't. Rather, it's the action you take; the direction you run... Whether you run from your giant, or run toward your giant.

So which way have you been running?

If you've been dreadfully afraid, running away from your giant, your time has come to turn and run toward it. It's not a matter of the head, it's a matter of the heart. God is with you, and will deliver that giant into your hand. Don't put it off any longer! Run toward your giant, giant-killer!

Beheading Goliath

"This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you." - 1 Sam 17:46

But there was no sword in the hand of David. - 1 Sam 17:50

That's worth reading again. And again. And again until it really sinks in, that a kid with a slingshot walks up to a giant and shouts at him: "I'm gonna cut your head off!" and he didn't have a sword in his hand.

What do you call that?

If that's what it really is, do you have it?

What Goliath is God calling you to face? And what sword are you waiting to acquire before you face him?
Is there something God has put in your heart, but you're waiting for the resources to accomplish it? You have to look at that giant and shout like David, "This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will... " Then run to that giant, and you'll find the sword you have been looking for is right there on his belt. God put it there for you. Go get it.
